I’ve been doing my own hits on the Canada Geese in our ponds.

My wife’s hometown lake has been taken over by Canada Geese. Some small beaches are unusable for all the poo. And if you do swim, keep your mouth closed. And they are protected by the Migratory Bird Treaty even though they’ve decided not to migrate.

Have you noticed how Canada Geese never seem to migrate over the last few decades?

I’m in MD and our ponds used to have DUCKS. Mallards of course mostly, but around the ‘80s they’ve been dominated by geese.

I almost never see ducks anymore! Never! To think I’m so excited to see some!

Guess what really started heavily in the ‘80s? More so now since the ‘90s.

Sediment ponds. For every damn “development” that pops up….everywhere. They do this in the name of “saving the Bay”.

Meanwhile, I think it has made this place too hospitable for the geese, and they never leave, and they chase away the smaller ducks.

So seems to me the environmental wackos are altering the environment beyond what it should be and changing it in other ways.
