Posted on 07/04/2021 1:29:10 PM PDT by BenLurkin
First responders initially thought a car was on fire, but when they arrived at the scene they discovered there was "an unintentional discharge of fireworks" being set up for the show, the Ocean City Fire Department said in a Facebook post Sunday morning. The employees declined transport to a local hospital, and no other beach or boardwalk visitors were injured as a result of the explosion...
Fire marshals are on scene and continue their investigation into the fireworks discharge. All fireworks celebrations in Ocean City have been canceled out of "an abundance of caution," the Ocean City Fire Department confirmed on Facebook.
Areas of the boardwalk will also remain closed to pedestrians until safety inspections have been completed.
The downtown show was supposed to begin with musical guests at 8 p.m. EST, with crowds expecting to see "fireworks filling the sky" beginning 9:30 p.m., according to a press release. The Northside Park was expected to take place at 8 p.m. EST, with a fireworks display at 9:30 p.m.

Fireworks Explosion in Ocean City Maryland, July 4, 2021
At least they weren’t wasted. Is it true that Maryland has more government employees per capita than any other state?
Is this Farmers Insurance?
Was the LAPD bomb squad involved?
Was thinking maybe Darksheare was behind this....
Perhaps this is the July 4th insurrection we were warned about?
Last I saw 49% of Marylanders work for state, local or federal government. The capitulation to government authority vs freedom and liberty ratio is simply pathetic here.
These people truly have no concept of liberty.
Sorry, no independence celebrations for the rubes. Try Juneteenth instead
Nice Grand Finale
But they do know how to max out a pension formula.
Tonight’s show, they say, has been “Canceled Out of an Abundance of Caution”.
Maybe, but many believe it has a lot more to do with the fact somebody just inadvertantly blew up the entire stock of fireworks for the show in 20 seconds. They ain’t got no ‘mo.
Oops! Kinda spendy mistake.
At least they waited until dark for the San Diego Fireworks Explosion in 2012....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ndVhgq1yHdA
That darn Darksheare!
Authorities caution the public that only professionals should handle and use fireworks because of the danger. /s/s/s/s
