This intentional dropping of the remaining structure will cause it to drop in place and have no affect on the original pile of debris. There is little or no “forensic” data that will be lost in this action.
All they need to know is under the S Towers initial collapse.
If the storm were to come in while it was still erect, no telling which way it would fall.

This is a smart move
