I have no idea.
I imagine rim bending is more of an issue than tire popping on a trail. However, If you have noticed, mountain bike tires have gone from 26 x 2.25 or so and going to 29s now or 27, but I think 29 inch rims might be the new thing and 26 inch rim tires are losing the presta and going to Schrader valve... soon if not already.
