‘Tree Inequity’ plaguing ‘peoples of color’

It’s worse than we thought. It’s bad enough that “peoples of color” are victims of racist math and racist bird names, but now we know they are also made to suffer from “tree inequity.”

It’s worse than we thought. It’s bad enough that “peoples of color” are victims of racist math and racist bird names, but now we know they are also made to suffer from “tree inequity.”

A research group called American Forests, in conjunction with the United States Forest Service, recently announced that peoples of color, living as many do in socioeconomically disadvantaged communities, often have fewer trees around them than do those residing in wealthier white communities. The group claims that trees are disproportionality planted in those wealthier and whiter neighborhoods and that this has “deprived many communities of color of the health and other benefits that sufficient tree cover can deliver.”

The USFS funds the utilization of a 100-point system to determine whether there are “enough” trees planted in a given neighborhood, known as the new Tree Equity Score.

Everyone should have their own tree

For decades working in NYC I felt that the exorbitant taxes I was paying were supporting another family. Now, living rural on a small piece of land, I guess I'm still supporting that family by caring for the(ir) trees on my property.

WAIT A COTTON PICKIN’ MINUTE.
There are clowns saying people of color are traumatized by the site of trees because of “post traumatic slave syndrome” and lynching.

I just can’t keep up with the outrages.

Some time ago there was a thread about Mr. T buying an expensive home in the Chicago area, I think it was, which had many beautiful old trees in the yard, and having them all cut down. There was some discussion about black Americans not liking trees. I don’t know how accurate that generalization is. There is a walking trail near where I live which is 100% shaded by tall trees. I sometimes see black people among the walkers and runners who use the trail. I guess they didn’t get the memo.

In many inner cities, there’s not much of a yard to plant trees.

They should go to Kiev (Ukraine). As far as I could tell, nearly the entire city lives in high rise apartments. It’s mostly white, too.
