We have no idea what the election issues will be in 17 months.

I do not believe the "issues" will matter one little bit. The elections are just another game show with declining ratings.

I would expect that once the Democrats run out of Republicans to cheat in the farce that is now our "elections", they will turn on each other. And the Democrats will not be polite losers like the Republicans have been.

The Democrats in losing factions will go after each other "By Any Means Necessary" (tm). It would be prudent to stay out of range of the splatter.
