At the core of theoretical physics is imagination. These postulates are currently not possible to prove experimentally. Almost all of this has been “debunked” by other physicists. Then again Einstein was mecilessly mocked by the established, tenured German physicists of his time. Yet who knows? If in the unlikely event that aliens were to show up here, only their intent would matter.

I'm not sure they are aliens, but something quite real is happening. Whether or not it comes from elsewhere is, as you say, irrelevant.
