Covid is dangerous, but rarely.
So rare that all the new normal culture is unnecessary. But all along, the new normal tyranny is creeping in, because the over-caution, lies, and misplaced fear.
Rare: The placebo set (arm) had 9 serious cases out of 21,600 subjects in the 6-month controlled Pfizer trial. That’s a 0.04% chance of hospitalization. This is mirrors in other studies.
Mild covid cases are not dangerous. No one cared this much about mild cold cases or asymptomatic cases ever before in history.

Over 600,000 Americans killed - more than by combat in WWII, and in a shorter timeframe.

That is not a measure of how dangerous COVID is - it is simply to compare vaccinated to unvaccinated under the same conditions, and measure the vaccine protective effect. Current numbers of COVID cases will vary from time to time, and from place to place. The Winter surge came with much higher case numbers than were occurring during the Pfizer trial period, for example.
Ultimately, the virus would eventually make its way through nearly the whole population, so an individual’s chance of getting exposed is not the real question. What is important is how much protection a vaccine can provide when exposed, and how safely - that is what trials are designed to quantify. And they measured the vaccines (especially Pfizer and Moderna) to be highly effective - better than most vaccines.

Of course not, by definition. Serious cases of COVID are dangerous. Fatal cases of COVID are dangerous.
ICU capacity across the USA was strained by COVID. That is not some routine occurrence.
