The olympics had better brace itself for the same low TV audience turnout experienced by NFL, NBA, MLB. If they have the same financial backing that sports has then they won’t care anymore than those Chinese companies do.

I haven't watched an Olympics since the mid(?) 70s. It was a big deal back then. Everyone on the block was tuned in. It was almost like a block party.

There’s a not insignificant chance that the Japanese government won’t allow any spectators in the venues. They’ve already prohibited foreign spectators. If that happens, whatever ‘woke’ demonstrations break out, are going to seem even more bizarre.

I don’t think the olympics are much of a draw any more, for a number of reasons. For Millennials, it must be boring, and they’d rather play online multiplayer video games. Now, this, which will make Boomers drop out.

The last Olympics I attempted to watch had a opening ceremony of 20 or 30 or more pianos being played all stacked up like Hollywood Squares. I don't remember what year it was but it was laughable.
