Whatever the price, avoid Chinese. Honda outboards are now being made in China.
Our oldest son bought a Honda Outboard 30 years ago to go on our little boat. My Chrysler outboard died after 5 years. I gave him the boat. He/we have used that Honda for decades with an occasional tuneup. His college age son, does the tuneups now.
The motor looks like crud on the outside, and it still works great even with incoming saltwater on high tides.
The Chinese and the Japanese have never been cozy. I find it very odd that Honda is manufacturing in China.
