Am I the only one who knows about the Coxsackie B virus that infects about 10,000 people in the U.S.A. annually? Coxsackie B virus usually affects the heart, lungs, pancreas and liver. It causes Bornholm disease, hepatitis, myocarditis and pericarditis. It is spread through fecal contamination.
The Myocarditis Foundation has a whole section (two actually) talking about this in their FAQ (https://www.myocarditisfoundation.org/research-and-grants/faqs/causes-of-myocarditis/)
* What viruses are related to the development of myocarditis?
* What are Parvovirus B19, Human Herpes Virus 6, and Enteroviruses?
You’re absolutely right to call it out as one of many causes of myocarditis and pericarditis. Interestingly, while viral causes account for most cases in the US and certain other western nations, it’s actually parasitic infections that account for most myocarditis cases in much of the world.
In the end, the point I was trying to make here was that myocarditis is not some unheard of thing that only just appeared with the COVID-19 vaccines, nor is it nearly so serious as it sounds based on the description of it. Rather, it’s something that happens quite commonly and is believed to be related to healthy immune system functioning. It’s very rarely an actual problem; usually just one of many symptoms that the immune system is working against something. And that something can be any number of different things from viruses to parasites to alcohol or radiation or penicillin. But it’s being purposely overblown by people who have an agenda against the COVID-19 vaccines, despite the fact that COVID-19 causes myocarditis about 4,000 times more often than the vaccines do. So if somebody is really worried about myocarditis for some reason, they should get the vaccine so they can avoid COVID-19 infection.
