Pizza Hut Japan tries to win over pineapple haters with new bulgogi meat pizza

You can’t say it’s gross if you’ve never tried it!

Cats vs. dogs. Hots dogs vs. hamburgers. Love dolls vs. drowned corpses. The list of opinion-battles that humans have pitted against one another for centuries goes on and on.

But none is more hotly contested than one debate: pineapple on pizza vs. oh hell no.

One of our Japanese reporters, Saya Togashi, didn’t know where she stood on the issue, having never tried it before. Thankfully, Pizza Hut Japan decided to put an end to that era of her life with their new release: the Bulgogi Festa, a pizza divided into quarters, each of which share the topping of Korean meat bulgogi.

▼ In addition to bulgogi there’s one quarter with jalapenos, another with kimchi, another with “extra tasty” bulgogi, and finally… one with pineapple.

Anyone that would eat something as disgusting as anchovies has no right to criticize pineapple on pizza.

Years ago when I was stationed in California there was a local pizza joint that made a Hawaiian style pineapple and ham pizza that was fantastic. I'd never had one before I moved there but it was great.

I think I only ordered a pizza with pineapple once (with canadian bacon), but I don’t hate it.

When I go to a pizza buffet I usually include a slice or two with the rest of the stuff I gobble down. Kind of like a dessert pizza.

I bought some bulgogi pot stickers from Costco. Mostly finely ground meat with ground veggies. It's really good.

I use to work at Pizza Hut many years ago when they had a huge rectangular pizza called ‘Bigfoot’.

That's not "many" years ago. Many years ago would be when I was still making the original "Thin and Crispy" in the early '80s and Cavatini Supreme pasta dishes. A few years before that was the Taco Pizza (different cheese, cherry tomatoes, spices).
