Another reason I’ve heard is that if local police forces are demoralized and disintegrating, it makes it easier for Washington to claim that we need a Federal takeover of all police. Of course it could be both the above and the reason you posited - they are not mutually exclusive.
Yes, Federalizing the county sheriff and city police forces would be another valid reason for the ‘white progressive’s’ hidden agenda.
It was not that many years ago that Obama was pushing the idea of a national police force.
