I love the exploration of space and the quest to find life elsewhere but I believe that life can only exist under conditions that are unique to Earth. It’s too dang violent and harsh out there in space.

You may be more correct than you think. Complex beings like humans are really made up of trillions of cells that have evolved to communicate through ion channels to organize into organs and tissue. Research indicates that this organization is controlled by a feedback loop between an evolved abstract “software” model of what a “correct” human body should be and the physical protein “hardware” generated by cells that grows and connects until it duplicates the model and stops.

The problem is no one has identified what the “bits” of the model memory are made of. If they were electrical or magnetic like a computer’s they would be destroyed by MRI machines or high voltage fields but they aren’t.

One possibility is that the patterns evolved from simpler to more complex structures over billion of years in growing populations of replicating organisms. These energy patterns curve the metric of space time the same way that ordinary mass-energy does (see Einsteins GR laws) and create slight gradients that influence the motion of ion channels in future organisms as they mature.

The more organisms that survive over time the larger the number of identical patterns and the deeper and more influential the curvature becomes until they are the default shape of all organisms of a certain species.

If this is found to be the correct explanation it would mean that life forms could not thrive and reproduce at long distance from their point of evolution since the ability of the space time curvature model to correctly organize the organism would diminish like gravity does with distance. This might also explain why alien beings can’t travel long distances in space unless they bring large populations of their species with them.

I watched NASA’s string of shows on this. Klingons, Romulens, Vulcans, Ferengi etc have been discovered so far.
