But looking it up, King is five years younger than Jimmy Carter. Without James Earl Ray he could well still be alive today.

Footnote: Members of Dr. King’s family met with Mr. Ray in prison toward the end of his life.
As I recall he told them he did not kill Dr. King and the family present said they believed him.
