I have lived in greater Seattle area for most of my life. Depends on how close to downtown Seattle they have to be. If they need to be downtown then I am afraid public schools are run by hard leftists. In general going north and east is better. All depends on how far away they can be. Edmonds and Mulkiteo have very good public school districts. If they can live on the East side ( Bellevue, Kirkland, issaquah) are good but very expensive to live. Woodinville also East is a good choice, but further away. Further north gets a little more conservative with Snohomish and to some degree Marysville. Arlington is great school district but quite a ways away.
This is not an exclusive list, but gives you some specific recommendations from a local.
Also as stated above don’t rule out looking for some private Christian schools. There are some smaller ones that they might be able to afford.
Also, because of the public school problems, there has been a robust growth of home schooling co-ops that are solid and reliable, all over the greater Seattle area.
I hope this helps in some way, best of luck to your friends!

I wouldn’t send my dog to a public school in Seattle.

Home schooling is always a good option.

What about the upper Olympic Peninsula ( Port Angeles, Port Townsend, Sequim, …)?

Herr Inslee has dictated CRT for all public school districts in WA starting next year
I'm hoping a petition is being prepared to put that nonsense on the ballot here, although our commie courts would likely strike it down somehow, like the license tabs initiative. A lot of folks here in Mason County don't like it one bit either.

Port Townsend is more liberal than Seattle. Sequim is only slightly better.

“What about the upper Olympic Peninsula ( Port Angeles, Port Townsend, Sequim, …)?”

They are an eclectic mix of weirdos representing every conceivable political and world view.

Sometimes in the same person.

Imagine an Evergreen State College grad running the family’s tackle and gun store somewhere between the Dosewallips and Hama Hama, while growing 99 marijuana plants every year.

And who proudly brags on their collection of AR-15s while smoking salmon and venison jerky out back.

And goes to church every Sunday with a slight hangover.

I send my kids to Northstar Academy (northstar-acedemy.org). It is an online / home school Christian based private school. It is very affordable to available all over the world. Maybe that is an option for them?

Thank you all very much for your insights. Mariner, that was a great description.

We like Port Angeles. We were there last week for a 40th anniversary / beat the heat trip this last week and weekend. Folks there were nice and normal. Of course they are in their manic phase of seasonal bipolar disorder what wiith the crystal clear air and cool sunshiny days. We saw a number of Trump stickers on trucks and signs on farms. Lots of covid derangement, if that is an indicator of mindset.

After vigil mass in Sequim we went downtown for crab dinner and saw a BLM - Antifa demonstration comprising a bunch (20 or so) noisy old lefty white farts holding signs.

I agree with Dead Dog…

By the way, Freepers, public schools in Texas will ruin your kids too, these days, and not just in lefty metro areas. Never send your kids to a government school, even in Texas. Those days are gone.
