I still don’t get why fried chicken and watermelon are a negative stereotype for the black community. I’m sure there is some reason going back 100 years, but I don’t understand it. I am white and I grew up eating both foods. Chilled watermelon especially is a great food to eat in the summer in the hot and humid South. Very refreshing and cooling.
I saw a video a while ago, where someone from Russia just didn't get the stereotype either -- he didn't even know it existed. He said watermelon is eaten in Russia all the time.
Heck there is this Russian painting by Boris Kustodiev depicting watermelon being served. You know it's Russia by the type of buildings you see in the background -- it isn't the Carolinas or Alabama.
