President Donald Trump escalates a war of words with U.S. women’s World Cup soccer star Megan Rapinoe, saying “Megan should WIN first before she TALKS” about not accepting an invitation to visit the White House.
Trump’s three-tweet fusillade against Rapinoe — who since 2016 has pointedly not sung or held her hand over her heart during the playing of the national anthem before games — says that “Megan should never disrespect our Country, the White House or our Flag.”
Trump’s tweets come a day after a video clip was posted of Rapinoe saying, with a scoff, “I’m not going to the f——— White House.”
