This is exactly how Juneteenth should be celebrated. Black folks should be hosting parties and banquets and parades and picnics for us Republican white people.
If it were not for conservative white folks who fought and died to set blacks free, it would be very reasonable to think that blacks would still be under slavery by the democrats. If Juneteenth is really all about recognizing a day when union troops arrived in Galveston to announce that white Republicans had set blacks free, then I’m fine with that. Let’s celebrate and gift thanks to my ancestors for what they did.
