Based on my research, there is really only one reliable way. We know that pantie goblins seem to be able to pull off this feat with their proportionately small units and we also know that witch doctors commonly curse people by shrinking penises. I would suggest that when summoned the demons likely have theirs shrunk also and only get it returned when they complete the quest for which they were summoned.
