Just kidding.
I’ll take you to the corner of Hastings Street and W. Grand Boulevard in Detroit. That is the only block or two left of Hastings Street from Paradise Valley from the 1930s and 1940s where John Lee Hooker (remember Blues Brothers?) and many others hung out and became famous. It was paved over for the I-375 Freeway, for better or worse.
I’ll also take you to Xochimilcho restaurant for some great Mexican food over near West Vernor just outside of downtown in the Mexican area. Don’t worry, I’ll be packing if you aren’t. But there likely won’t be any problems. Despite what you’ve heard, Detroiters are by and far a friendly lot, except for that occasional one who might try to rob you if you look like you aren’t packing.
I actually enjoyed traveling to Detroit.
Got stuck in traffic once, and a guy got out and started making balloon animals for all of us. We ended up having a bit of a picnic while sitting on the freeway.
River walk was fun, though I had a local with me. Went to some Greek place and had great food.
