No emails about Memorial Day, but we got two separate global emails about how important and wonderful this asinine new “Juneteenth” holiday is.
—
Juneteenth; a holiday so important no one ever mentioned it until last year.
I have a fair amount of contempt for this holiday.
If someone proposed September 22 as a national holiday the date the Emancipation Proclamation was issued by President Lincoln, I doubt I would object.
But “Juneteenth”? I have zero problem with Texas making it a holiday, but a National Holiday? And naming it “Juneteenth”? I just don’t see how this affected anyone outside Texas or why the freeing of the slaves in Texas was more important than any other state’s actions. But it does come with a built in BBQ tradition, and I am sure that counts as a plus to many.
The day simply reeks of pandering. The same people who pushed this as a holiday are the same people who run cities like Chicago and Baltimore where blacks are being slaughtered.
Crime and racial strife are tools for the Left, and they coldly use them with effect.
