Best of this band here - totally strung out on heroin and in a small club.

A great tune. Defines the Stones, hit and hit after hit.

Keith Richards and Bob Dylan as the masters of all forms of American music, and the keepers of same.
Keith was the writer of this song.
He once said of Mick Taylor (Voodoo Lounge era circa 1998)that he was a guitar virtuoso. He’d never seen better.
But he wasn’t a Rolling Stone.

Fired the only musician who was ever in the band. I stopped listening at that point.

Did you notice that Mick missed an intended note by a half step in bar 9 of his 16 bar solo? Nobody’s perfect of course although some instrumentalists seem to approach perfection for long stretches. Mick was a great live musician too of course so he immediately adjusted his solo to make it look as if the mistake was intended. A gutarist’s guitarist.

Wow, thanks for posting! As my guitarist son says, “Look, Dad, no tapping!”
(The boy can play a mean MT ‘Knockin’! — and far better than Ronnie Wood ever could.)
Listening to Sticky Fingers now. Great fun!

I was flipping through the channels the other night and I came across: “Ladies and gentlemen, the rolling stones” with Taylor play Sticky Fingers and older material. I couldn’t believe how good they sounded with him.

Nice find. The Rolling Stones used to play smaller venues (unannounced in many cases) to warm up for the arena/stadium gigs.
