In any sane world, the judge wouldn’t have allowed this to happen.

Jury duty, even when run ‘normally’, is incredibly inefficient and wastes of everyone’s time. The only possible justification is to be sure the rule of law is followed.

This is a colossal waste of time. He will be convicted, and then he will appeal, and win, on the grounds of ineffective counsel. The judge knows this, and is allowing it to go down.

“In any sane world, the judge wouldn’t have allowed this to happen.”

He acted as his own counsel so he would have to sue himself as well as the state. Somehow that won’t fly if he tried a stunt like that.
