Interestingly enough, the Chinese health authorities indicated early on in the pandemic last year that, for whatever reason, it was ex-smokers who were getting hammered, who had the worst outcomes, when someone actually contracted COVID-19 compared with tobacco users or people who never used tobacco. Kinda wacky, but that's what they found, fwiw.
