I dumped television in 1997. I’ve never had cable. However, two years ago I discovered that our Amazon prime membership came with free streaming. So I gave it a try and now we actually stream a lot of stuff. We also watch YouTube on our smart tv.
Then one day about a year ago we visited our friends in chicago. All they had was cable. I felt like I’d stepped into the dark ages. You know, the days when you had to look at a TV guide to see what was “on”.
It was extremely painful to have such a limited choice. Cable TV is so 20th century. It’s also absurdly expensive. I honestly don’t get it. Why does anybody have cable anymore? It’s a sincere question.
Especially given the number of channels on the air merely with an antenna - more than used to be on with cable.
Then there are so many free streaming services of high quality there's no point to paying for any TV. Just the one time costs of equipment.
