Yes, which means off the western coast of the Americas. As opposed to the Western Pacific, which means over by China, Japan, Philippines, etc..
Ironically, the world map published most commonly published in Japan splits the world along roughly the Ural Mountain Range and has the Pacific Ocean, not the Atlantic, in the center of the map. What we would call the Middle East on our most common version of the map would be on the far eastern edge of the Japan version and the Indian subcontinent would be on the western edge of theirs.
So it is a matter of perspective.
