You don’t kill your best market. They are getting rich off us. We were in this same military position with the Soviets and they finally imploded.
My understanding is that Chinese submarines are rarely encountered outside the area around China, unlike the Soviets.
We may be their best market, but there are plenty of other markets for them all over the world that don’t have the potential to cause them as much harm as we potentially could. With the US removed or neutralized they wouldn’t hesitate to advance themselves into world superpower status immediately. I don’t think they will hesitate for one minute to try to take us out once they feel assured they could be successful.
