Probably 10 years ago there were leaks of a supposed criminal syndicate in China that sold body parts for transplants including hearts-—from living people-—on demand. They said “We guarantee they are from a nonsmoker.”
More than one commentator in the US said “That can’t be true. How many Chinese do not smoke?”
They even cropped the cover photo of the dead leader Deng Xiaoping so it would not show the ever present lit cigarette in his hand.
