Hard labor. Breaking rocks in the hot sun. Chain gangs and pink underwear.
That doesn’t stop them from becoming criminals outside the walls when they don’t have the social support to work themselves back into society.
I don’t mind them getting educated. If somebody has done all the work within prison, and can pass all the requisites examinations after they get out, I can accept that.
There’s people serving time in prison for selling orchids without a license.
I think a lot of people here would be shocked at the sheer number of “crimes” in America today that could land one behind bars.
