What do they mean by unhackable? Maybe the information can't be read in transit, but someone could send something down the fiber, that when opened on the other end trashes the attached computer system.

So long as we demand that we get pretty much everything off the internet for free, there will be ads, cookies, etc. that can all be vectors for hacking.

I have a superficial understanding, but the basic idea involves the destructive nature of simply observing — this is the “quantum” factor. So for secure communications, transmit the data in parallel quantum channels, and if the received data doesn’t match, it’s been observed. To skirt observing, transmit tiny chunks at light speed in a randomized manor. I’m guessing...
