Ironically, Kodak invented the first digital camera in 1975.

Kodak was a venerable powerhouse of inventions back in the day. They were basically what fed and made the town of Rochester, NY. Because of Kodak, Xerox and a gaggle of competitors set up shop there. When Kodak went down, much of the town went down with it.

Many plants in the Pittsburgh area (where I live) upgraded their equipment from shuttered plants in the Rochester area.
