Exactly. My wife keeps telling me it’s time to sell. Then I ask her: “...and buy where?” My supervisors have asked if I want to move to Colorado Springs. I did a check of housing in the Springs, and to get the equivalent of what I have now in Florida, I would have to buy a house at $800K to $1M. I just paid off my house early and have no debt. I told my bosses that no, I would not be willing to move and go back in debt while losing about 40% of combined salary. I’m fine right where I am...just not a fan of the heat and humidity.

We’re visiting our son in Colorado, and visiting various parts of the state while he’s working during the week. We look at real estate prices along the way. He loves it here, but if he wants to stay, he’ll need to earn a lot when he finishes his studies. Colorado real estate has some very big price tags. The influx of people from California and elsewhere is having a huge impact on the cost of living and the culture.
