Not really. Once books are sold it is hard to recall and edit them, it is hard to determine who might read them.

Now it is so easy.

When was the last edition of Encyclopedia Britannica, or World Book published ?

There is a reason Amazon calls their book reader “Kindle” even though it does not come with a free copy of fahrenheit 451

Yes, I agree that it’s far easier to scrub a database than it is to round up books and burn them.

I was making a slightly different point; namely, that history books are no more objective and truthful than journalism.

People have agendas and those in power are focused like a laser on preserving their legacy - making their political gains permanent.

The recording and teaching of a “history” that confirms their narratives and favors their agendas - is right at the top of their list of priorities.
