She conned him into letting her go the artificial insemination route. While she was pregnant, she decided that she didn't like him, so filed for divorce.
She had the baby, and had his name put on the birth certificate. Then she took him to court and was awarded child support for the girl until she turns 18. The girl is 16 now and the poor guy has two more years to pay, for a child who isn't his, and who he has never seen.
The girl is a wonderful person though.
That’s pretty crazy, and one of the reasons they changed common law laws in Alberta too. So many women would go move in with a man for six months, then take half his stuff and go do it to the next sucker. The Alberta government has changed it to 3 years. I knew of one woman who had done that so much she was independently wealthy. I haven’t seen that one in a number of years, so maybe one of the exes had enough and decided a hit was cheaper, I don’t know, but it’s crazy she got away with that for so long.
