Disagree. At least until recently, it was generally the woman who chose the man/men she was going to associate with. Then we got to listen to her complaints about her choices. Bad boys and all that.....

It’s not like the guy had no choice once chosen, at least where and when I grew up. But I get your point, if she did not choose him, “his choice” was irrelevant.
Yes, all the complaints. Too much fantasy island out there. Want a decent, hardworking, responsible, honest guy that settles down, takes care of everything, loves family, etc etc .. and then when that guy shows up he isn’t quite the right one, because she wants the bad guy (with prison time a plus).
Reminds me of the Tom Petty song, “She’s a Woman in Love (It Just Ain’t You)”. J Giles was more cynical about it, “Love Stinks”.
