Continuing to have police on campus harms Black and brown students who are exhausted from seeing their families harassed by police and witnessing high profile police-killings of young people on TV and social media. We know police on campus don’t prevent mass shootings. Since Columbine we’ve dramatically increased police presence in schools, yet mass shootings have grown exponentially,” said Ashley Rojas, Executive Director of Fresno Barrios Unidos and Fresno’s Education Justice Coalition. “Police criminalize Black and brown students. We have an opportunity here in Fresno to rectify this harm and choose a future that prioritizes the health and wellness of all our students.”

That's like saying traffic laws don't prevent traffic accidents because there are still traffic accidents.
How may traffic accidents DID traffic laws prevent?
And furthermore. There are quite a few other dangers to students' safety than 'mass shootings'.
These parents must have rooted for the bad kids in 'Blackboard Jungle'.
Or maybe they WERE those kids.
