Why weren't primary care providers, the people who know their patients best, allowed to offer these vaccines?
Only pediatricians stock vaccines because they give them so frequently. Urgent care clinics and ERs stock tetanus shots. But PCPs that treat only adults generally don’t stock vaccines because they have no demand for them.
When I asked at my family medicine clinic about getting the shingles vaccine, she told me to get an internet coupon and get it at my preferred pharmacy, they only stock children’s vaccines at the clinic.
