yarf! my parents had one, what POS
Owned a 79 hatchback. First new car. Liked it a lot. Tuned it by ear with just a screwdriver.
"Nobody demands more from a Datsun than Datsun...we are DRIVEN!!!"
A friend’s family had one. It was before the most of the imports came with Front-Wheel-Drive. Not only did the Datsun have Real-Wheel-Drive in it, it was posi-traction as he often proved when revving it and popping the clutch. The light rear made it easy to lay two very thin strips of rubber for about eight feet.
My college roomie and her husband were given a Datsun B210 as wedding gift from his parents Aug 1976. In HOUSTON, TX, a stripped down model with NO A/C. Didn’t need as much upkeep as the lime green Rambler that was retired.
good memories - the look on her face when she realized that car was THEIRS!
$13K???...that’s triple the price when it was new! IIRC the dashboards get destroyed from UV rays and crack and really get nasty. The seats too!
I bought one for $40 in the mid 80’s.
Ended up snapping it in half while off roading.
I had a Datsun in about 1972, it was a Orange 4 door sedan, Stick shift, pretty loaded for the time and was a great car. Do not remember the model. I was about 17.
My Mom traded in her 74 Dodge Dart Swinger for 78 b210
In a dark green color, she was disappointed with it.
The car always had a funny plastic smell to it,she even took it back to the dealer about the smell but there was no remedy for the smell.
The car was gone before 1980.
My fiancĂ©’ had a ‘75 or ‘76. It was branded a “Honey B”, and even had a decal of a honey bee on the back. As an aspiring young GM guy, we got rid of it as soon as we were married.
During this same period I had a Toyota Corona 2 door vinyl top. Back then you could really fine tune an engine, even a small one. I just loved working with the timing, dwell, gappers, and advancing the distributor. Eventually, one could adjust the distributor by ear. Way cool.
