I hate it when people try on space and time and then just throw it back on the shelf in a crumpled pile.

And the recently released FLIR images are from 2004.
If China had that capacity back then, surely some off-shoot of that technology would have been used since that time.
But China is still trying to catch up on their aircraft carriers.
Why bother with aircraft carriers if you have drones as big as an F-18 that can fly at 15,000 mph and zoom from 80,000 ft. to sea level and then go underwater in a matter of seconds?
It is probably that wily Putin. Or maybe those clever Indians. They always thought they were so damned smart.
