Yes, no kidding.
It’s ‘allowable’ if not a little tasteless as to location and timing. A US Memorial Day that somehow wasn’t even noted by the WH takes precidence over Buddah.
I found these ‘guidelines’ from the clinton admin, which probably haven’t changed much, and basically, if the area is not usually open to the public, and it’s on off-the-clock time, it can be done. Brace yourself for Obeah spell casting next:
“(g) During lunch, certain employees gather on their own time for prayer and Bible study in an empty conference room that employees are generally free to use on a first-come, first-served basis. Such a gathering does not constitute religious harassment even if other employees with different views on how to pray might feel excluded or ask that the group be disbanded.”
