Actress Ellie Kemper is apologizing for her involvement in a debutante ball as a teenager that has come under recent criticism for the organization's controversial history. Kemper was crowned the "Queen of Love and Beauty" at the Veiled Prophet Ball in 1999. The organization is based in Missouri and was founded in 1878 by former Confederate officers.
Kemper addressed the controversy in an Instagram post on Monday.
"When I was 19 years old, I decided to participate in a debutante ball in my hometown," she began. "The century-old organization that hosted the debutante ball had an unquestionably racist, sexist and elitist past. I was not aware of the history at the time, but ignorance is no excuse. I was old enough to have educated myself before getting involved. I unequivocally deplore, denounce, and reject white supremacy," she continued. "At the same time, I acknowledge that because of my race and my privilege, I am the beneficiary of a system that has dispensed unequal justice and unequal rewards."
Kemper went on to add, "I believe strongly in the values of kindness, integrity and inclusiveness. I try to live my life in accordance with these values. If my experience is an indication that organizations and institutions with pasts that fall short of these beliefs should be held to account, then I have to see this experience in a positive light."

I just checked her out on IMDB and she is at best a C Actress who has never been in any A list movies or TV shows, except The Office, which I have never really watched.

Rule number one when dealing with a mob: if you didn’t do anything wrong, do not apologize. The mob doesn’t want an apology, it wants a scalp. If they don’t get a scalp, they may get more shrill, but that only shows it’s not an apology that they seek. Eventually they move along. Apologizing only validates their illegitimate accusations and encourages them to try to humiliate you further.

She’s hella cute. She plays one of those characters that in every comedy show doesn’t understand the world and gets a laugh from it. I watched her Netflix show Kimmie Schmidt. It wasn’t that bad actually kind of funny. I watched several seasons. The black guy Titus Andromedon was probably the best and most likeable portrayal of a gay character since Liberace. It was already pretty woke as a show before woking was a thing. I actually feel sorry for her and since I heard about it last week I thought it had blown over but here she is apologizing. She just goes along with the narrative that it has something to do with the Confederacy and the KKK even though it was originally designed as a kind of Mardi Gras thing to get the city on the map. It was as real as Kwanzaa. She will not be able to learn that it is better to face it down with the truth like Gina Carrano.

How many black or asian pageants allow white contestants? Going back for a century themselves. In fact, I recall one black pageant recently that demanded a mixed-race winner renounce her crown as she was ‘not black enough’.
They had black girls in the pageant also.
Except to a family member or close personal friend, perhaps.
