Republican Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was a surprise guest at the Gulf Coast Jam concert festival on Sunday — speaking to the massive crowd of music fans about how “Florida chose freedom over Fauci-ism.”
Gulf Coast Jam which featured performers like Chris Stapleton, Brooks & Dunn, and Old Dominion was the largest music festival in the US since the pandemic began

DeSantis’ press secretary Christina Pushaw posted clips of the governor’s appearance and the crowd’s reaction on Twitter.
“Florida chose freedom over Fauci-ism,” DeSantis said, making the crowd go wild.
“My message for other states and other countries: open you states, open your schools, let people live their lives, don’t make them wear masks,” DeSantis added.

Yes, not knowing is the basis of sound decision making. Never choose safety over freedom. Period. Deep to his core, DeSantis did not believe in the American people to make their own decisions. Government knew better in his estimation. With that said, I agree with many of his policies.
Wasn’t his shutdown relatively brief and encompassing only bars and restaurants?
If you want serious shutdown, come to Maryland. They only fully opened back up a little earlier this year, and masks are still required on public transit and in at least some health facilities.
I’m planning on coming down toward the end of the year. I plan not to vote Democrat EVER! No way, no how!
Every time I ever voted Democrat, It seems I would end up regretting it one way or the other. Never again!
Good point.
At the beginning, the prudent thing was to assume the worst; if it had actually been a highly lethal plague history would have been harsh indeed.
DeSantis 2024!
We’re starting to see their crap in the schools now. Thank goodness our BOE are tough and know not to kowtow to special interest groups. Local politicians in my immediate area get it, but just down the road where we have seen a large and very rapid influx of monied Californians and northerners, those locals are losing the battle. Just giving up because the money is too good now. These jerks left places they deemed unlivable, just to come down here and make the Eastern Shore the same.
To where are they moving? I just don’t want to live in the places that they are effing up.
You should be sorry lol.
I was in FL at the height of the "shutdown" and it wasn't a patch on a blue state. Basically Disney/MK were shut down, and "wear a mask in Publix". Other than that, same old, beautiful same old.
And that was it. I posted beach cams almost daily from New Smyrna ... I'm in some of these lofl ...

Oh look this one caught my good side lofl...
Old Dominion should change its name.
Houston has a democrat mayor? How sad for people living in Texas..
Houston “always” has a Democrat mayor. Usually it is several rats running against each other.
In Florida we’ve had democrat mayors come to the defense of our Republican Governor - - DeSantis... (then again, the drug addicted democrat pervert Andrew Gillum almost beat DeSantis...we dodge a bullet on that one...)

A Democratic mayor in Florida is coming to the governor’s defense following a 60 Minutes story on the state’s vaccine rollout, alleging the show’s reporting was “intentionally false.”
60 Minutes on Sunday aired a story in which correspondent Sharyn Alfonsi reported on allegations that Florida’s “vaccination rollout has favored the wealthy.” It was critical of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) for partnering with Publix to distribute vaccines, suggesting the move may have been influenced by the governor having received donations from the supermarket chain.
On Monday, Palm Beach County Mayor Dave Kerner (D) defended DeSantis and slammed 60 Minutes over this story.

“The reporting was not just based on bad information — it was intentionally false,” Kerner alleged...

Chose freedom over Fauci-ism
