“Zeppelin is a much better band than the Stones…”
Amen to that! For a while in the 70s, there was a rivalry of sorts between the two groups, but I remember an interview at the time with Jimmy Page, who complemented Richards and The Rolling Stones, stating he was a fan. Page is generally gracious to other musicians, but also, I think, knew who was really on top.

Found myself strongly agreeing with him on Zeppelin.
Led Zep's early stuff was OK, I wasn't impressed with Stairway to Heaven, or any of their stuff since. Probably from my college days, the stench of marijuana always seemed to go along with someone blasting Stairway to Heaven. The dopeheads thought if you play it loud and oftentimes enough while being blitzed you can see G-D.

He made that guitar bawl, not gently weep. One of my favorite videos. His halftime performance in a Superbowl a few years back was superb, no lip sync, flawless set...in the rain.

yeah- some of them i guess just saw $$ in it- and didn’t take it seriously- others like beyonce however claim to be possessed onstage- and it seems like they try to sneak in Satanic images and symbolism rather than being overt with it- so more likely they do either practice it or dabble in it - in interviews she claims to be taken over by a spirit alter ego called Sasha Fierce, and has symbols of baphomet- an evil entity

What u said....

I was a huge fan of Bowie mainly for Ziggy and Hunky

And Aladdin and DD I liked too

The Robson years more or less

And Eno era grew on me....

MTV mega hits not so much though that was I guess his biggest hits money wise

He was in my opinion extremely talented....

Elton...

I liked up through GBYBR

after that I lost interest

His early stuff was new sounding...

Girls loved it.....like Kirwan Spencer and Welch Mac....

Or Buckingham Nicks before they joined

Elton first 3-4 albums high school...cool girls loved...I mean how could you not like Levon or Texas love song or Funeral for a Friend with Davey chopping it pretty hard for an Elton song

Stones and Zep

My two fav big groups

Just listen to that band on that one, who could have pulled it off better than they did? Elton owed his career to having one of the, if not the best backing bands of all time.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard any Zeppelin member speak negatively of another band, which is remarkable considering how the music press dumped on them. They easily could have rubbed their success in the press’s face by criticizing the press’s preferred bands.
