Article says It was a dead spruce and that he set up the hammock after dark. It also said he was hiking New Hampshire’s highest peaks to raise money for his 16 year old daughter’s college fund. Very sad.

I once had a tree fall on my camp chair just after I stood up and left. There was nothing about the tree to indicate weakness. It was alive and in bloom.
