Now to be honest I was quite the pyromaniac when I was a youth ;but somehow survived it
I went as far as stealing pyrotechnical chemicals from the chemistry lab which me and my friends are a lot of fun with
My absolute favorite was phosphorus dissolved in carbon disulfide
This liquid would put on a piece of paper or a fire cracker for that matter would sit there for about two minutes until the carbon disulfide with evaporate and then flash! It would just spontaneously combust
You can imagine how much fun that was in high school with smoke bombs and firecrackers
My other favorite one was elemental sodium
Elemental sodium is a shiny metal that you can cut with a knife
If you take a piece of sodium and you put it in water; it violently reacts and gives off hydrogen gas
One of my favorite pastimes was take a gallon milk container fill it 1/3 with water throw a piece of sodium in there but the cap on and throw it
💥 BOOM! Good fun. Then sirens.

When I was about 12, my friends and I decided we wanted to build a rocket, and one of us somehow had a formula for gunpowder or something like it. We found out we could buy the ingredients from a pharmacy, but when we asked the pharmacist, he refused to sell them them to us.
Then we discovered we could get rocket kits and ready-made engines from Estes Industries.
