He also played sweaty bad guys in westerns. He was much heavier in the late 50s.

I remember him in The Party (1968) as the movie producer who tried to bed Claudine Longet’s character.

I saw that movie not long ago on TCM (also have it in my DVD collection) and the one scene with MacLeod in it that had me shaking with laughter even the following day at work was when Bakshi (Peter Sellers) puts his hand in the ice with the caviar after the Denny Miller (RIP) character strongly shakes hands with him. Bakshi’s hand smells of the fish but then he immediately meets the producer played by MacLeod and they say hello and shake hands as MacLeod forgot that Bakshi was the one who blew up the movie set. Then shortly afterwards, MacLeod then shakes hands with the studio head Fred Clutterbuck (J Edward McKinley) and Fred notices the smell of fish on his hand.

We saw Gavin in a dinner theater play many years ago after he completed work on the Mary Tyler Moore show. When the play was finished, they took questions from the audience and I raised my hand to ask him what his next project was. He described his role as a captain for a cruise liner called “The Love Boat”. Seemed like a nice guy. RIP...

Combat! A Brit.

Steve Canyon. hijacking an air force plane to rob a bank.

A self described depressing character on MTM. I thought he was funny.

One of my favorite movies.
I just saw a clip of the Clint Eastwood roast and Don Rickles spoke about his role in the film and that Clint had not called him since

I recently saw a clip of him playing a drug dealer and pimp named “Big Chicken” in a 1969 episode of Hawaii 5-0.

Knowing what he became later, watching him play “Big Chicken” just seemed corny to me.

RIP

I think Claudine Longet was on McHale’s Navy with him also.

To me he will be Murray on the MTM show. I never was a regular viewer of the Love Boat.

The term “Love Boat” also had a different pop culture hijacking decades ago. When woman sailors were first allowed to serve on combat ships (especially aircraft carriers) and several came up pregnant, “The Love Boat” moniker was hung on the ships.

Whoops....
I confused Mr. MacLeod with Bernie Kopell...Doc on the Love Boat.
Bernie play Siegfried on Get Smart.
I believe that he was the leader of KAOS.

My favorite character on Get Smart was Siegfried and also “Agent 13”. Poor Agent 13!
