A café in Mendocino, Calif. Is charging patrons a $5 fee if they are caught wearing a mask or "bragging" about their coronavirus vaccine.
"$5 FEE ADDED TO ORDERS PLACED WHILE WEARING A FACE MASK," a sign posted in the window of Fiddleheads Café reads. In the fine print below the sign says that any customer "caught bragging" will also have to pay the penalty.

Yeah, you’re right, they should just ban them at the door.
“No shoes, no shirt, wearing mask - no service”
I believe you misread the article. Read it again.
I am not vaccinated and won’t be. Neither is my husband and our son. The reason is that we are all on voluntary quarantine, so it is impossible that we would even catch the disease. Our son does the grocery shopping, and he wears a mask when he does.
A lot of freepers would go broke.
Good.
I wouldn’t normally approve, but it’s about time that businesses started hitting back against the othering of unvaccinated people.
Coronavirus PING!
I’m pleasantly surprised by this bit of “free thinking.”
I’m ok with folks mocking the mask wearers and vaccine takers.
Both are very indicative of a low intelligence and people driven by fear who are the most likely to turn and rat on others. There are a few exceptions as always, but it’s rapidly turning into a two tier society and I enjoy knowing who my friends are.
I don’t plan on getting it either. I was originally going to wait to see how things go, and possibly get it after a year; but the way people are pushing this, it seems like a bad horror movie or dystopian film. I’ve been saying it on other platforms, and I’ll say it here: The vaccine should’ve been produced, distributed, and administered orally via a powdered drink like Kool Aid.
We just got home from the beach - we saw maybe two masks the whole time (Ga and FL). That includes gas stations, grocery stores, beaches, restaurants- everything was busy and packed. We have rarely seen anyone with masks in GA for the past few months and our cases are still dropping - lower now than this time last year, despite our vax rates also being some of the lowest in the US
It is a good plan actually, for the independent thinkers who have not succumbed to government conditioning like Pavlov’s dogs.
agree

They are worth supporting.
One of the guys who works for my former employer not only got over COVID (he’s maybe 20), but he did the dumb thing and also got vaccinated, so he was ungodly sick afterwards. I reminded him that he doesn’t need to wear the mask anymore, and he said he’d keep wearing it because it makes him feel, “safe.”
His other coworkers don’t feel the same way he does, and balked at his response. I just about lost my sh!t on him, because he was complaining about how the mask was making his skin irritated immediately before the aforementioned conversation.
Seriously, I weep for the future.
There are people who wear masks for other reasons than covid.
Businesses continually shoot their own feet by going political.
The only reason they started is because of covid.
Cute little place, beautiful location, so-so food but what great attitude.
You go, guys.
Definitely be popular with customers. I spent a wonderful year in Mendocino and it’s not filled with conformists or people you can order around.
Yes.There are many places in the US like that. It is a good feeling to be surround by people like that.
