Stanley Kubrick's iconic film was 2001: A Space Odyssey

His last film was Eyes Wide Shut, a film many think was his attempt to disclose aspects of the illuminati. It is claimed he showed an initial cut of the finished Eyes Wide Shut to the studio's management (Warner Brothers). Further claims are that a shouting match ensued in the hallway after the screening. 1) He died the following day, 2) significant changes were made to the film with 3) the copies of the deleted scenes were destroyed, and 4) he died the next day. I'm going from memory here, but I think that is close to being accurate. It may have been more than a day between the screening and his death but it was not long.

According to imdb, Kubrick died on March 7, 1999. January 1, 2001 was exactly 666 days later.
