Of course, with a national registry, the new PD hiring the officer still may not care about his or her past. Of course, hiring a person with a troubled history could cause the new PD a lot of problems down the road.
A national registry itself might be problematic; it seems like another step toward nationalizing all police.
Yeah, I have mixed feelings.
A bad cop probably should be blacklisted from police work.
But I know a former cop who claims to have had false allegations filed against him by people working for drug dealers, because he was being effective.
If you’re not careful, this could backfire.
